The three-story, 5,000-square-foot Chick-fil-A will be the largest in the country and will be independently owned and operated by Oscar Fittipaldi, who has been a franchise owner-operator with the chain since 2010.
This fall, Chick-fil-A will open their first Long Island location in Port Jefferson, with plans to expand to Hicksville, Commack, and Westbury. That compares to about $20 a square foot that a fast-food chain would typically pay in a shopping center in an American suburb, which has been the company’s bread and butter.

It also will be one of Chick-fil-A’s most expensive locations. It will also be among the first Chick-fil-A restaurants to feature an “InSinkErator” food waste disposal system, which spins and separates liquid from solids. More than 30 people, complete with pillows and camping gear, lined up early Tuesday morning at the Braker Lane location, which was closed for five months for renovations. The only Chick-fil-A in New York City is located on New York University’s campus, and is accessible only to NYU students.
