Criticism grows for Trump’s assailing of Muslim soldier’s family

Donald Trump’s harsh comments toward Khizr and Ghazala Khan, the parents of a Muslim-American soldier killed in combat, have proven to be the greatest challenge for the Republican presidential nominee who has previously been impervious to controversy. Khan’s son, the late Army Capt. Humayun Khan, was killed by suicide bombers 12 years ago.

His comments came following a press release issued on the topic stating: “Captain Humayun Khan was a hero to our country and we should honour all who have made the ultimate sacrifice to keep our country safe”.

“I find this so troubling, and I know a lot of folks are saying, ‘Mitt just get off your high horse on this and get behind the guy.’ But these things are personal”.

Congressman Richard Hanna has also publicly announced he will vote for rival Hillary Clinton in November – the first Republican politician to do so.

Lesson number one for Mr. Trump: Commenting on regular folks is fraught with danger, no matter what they say.

For me personally, and I’m not trying to say to other people that you can’t support Donald Trump, I’m saying for me personally, how can I support that?

Trump defended his actions, asserting that he was “viciously attacked” by Khan and felt the need to set the “totally dishonest” media straight. Does the Atlantic County Republican Party endorse Trump smearing the family of fallen American soldiers or does the party simply lack the courage to speak out against it?

The fund-raiser site includes a video of the lawyer’s convention speech, in which the Pakistani-American Gold Star dad talked about their decorated son and spoke directly to Trump.

Mr Obama said even if he had lost his White House races in 2008 and 2012, he would not have doubted his Republican rivals’ ability to lead the country. Mrs. Khan later said she didn’t speak because she was overcome with grief. She had nothing to say. “I said so last week”. “The last book my son read that I sent him was Senator McCain’s book about courage: “Why Courage Matters”. After coming under fire lately for possible ties to the Russian government of Vladimir Putin, Trump claimed in the same ABC interview that he couldn’t remember if he’d ever met the notorious Russian president.
