Zika virus strikes again: USA military members contracted it
Nineteen other pregnant women in California infected with Zika are being monitored. The mosquitoes get infected when they bite a person who has the virus, so the person is the host, not the mosquito. As of July 29 there were 114 cases of travel-associate Zika virus reported in 12 California counties and zero cases of locally-acquired infection. “They also work with the Arizona Department of Health Services’ Lab to test mosquitos for the Zika and Dengue viruses”.

The impact immediately appeared to be more successful than earlier mosquito control techniques, said Dr. Tom Frieden, director of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The woman saw a doctor for symptoms, including nausea and fever on July 26, and consulted a doctor again three days later after a red rash developed on her face and limbs.
Some travelers to areas with zika will become infected while traveling but will not become sick until they return home and they might not have any symptoms.
This week, for the first time cases of Zika, believed caused by mosquito bites, have been reported in the continental United States – in Miami, Florida. “Zika can not be spread through person-to-person or airborne contact”. The agency again advised that pregnant women consider not going and that their male sexual partners use condoms after the trip or abstain from sex during the pregnancy. The virus has been spreading in Latin America and the Caribbean, prompting a travel warning for the region. In addition, Bermuda does not have the Aedes aegypti mosquito, which is the most common and most capable carrier of Zika.
“Because the Marianas is a tropical area we are particularly at risk for Zika”.
On behalf of A.A. which has a hub in Miami, he elaborated, “The C.D.C. advisory doesn’t tell people they shouldn’t travel to Miami”.

However, the situation is far more dire for pregnant women, whose developing fetuses are now thought to be extremely vulnerable to the virus.
