Games organisers ‘lose’ keys to Olympic stadium
The Opening Ceremonies for the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro doesn’t take place until Friday, but the Games’ soccer tournament began Wednesday, partly because of the large number of events scheduled to take place at the city’s Olympic Stadium.

“HAS anyone seen the keys to the stadium?” must have been a slightly fraught conversation ringing out over Rio in the past few days.
Things in Rio de Janeiro aren’t off to a hot start ahead of the official opening to the 2016 Summer Olympics, and they reached an nearly comical peak Wednesday.
“What a start! #Rio2016 kicking off with lost key and firemen forcing open lock to east gate of Olympic stadium #oops”, Carneiro wrote.
The post was accompanied by bolt cutters being applied to a couple locks. Losing keys is a bad feeling, but to lose the ones to Olympic stadium is pretty jarring, to say the least.
It’s unclear if this will have any logistical effect on the games going forward, but it doesn’t speak highly of the preparation and organization of an already-criticized Olympics.

Being unable to unlock the stadium is the latest in a string of Olympic fails ranging from worries about water quality to muggings of tourists and athletes.
