Adele says her credit card was declined at H&M

She’s worth an estimated £85 million, but even Adele isn’t immune to an embarrassing card decline moment at the till.

Singer Adele might be one of the richest women in pop music but her credit card was still declined at an H&M’s store.

While touring in San Jose, Adele treated her fans to a amusing anecdote (of which she’s become quite famous) about when her card got declined in H&M. She says, however, that she was able to make some purchases with the card at a Sephora makeup store.

The hit-maker explained: “Nobody knew it was me, but I was mortified”. Her hefty bank account landed her at number nine on the site’s annual highest-paid celebrity list.

And that wasn’t the only thing that left the “Rolling in the Deep” hitmaker glad she was incognito during her shopping trip – her furry companion Louie, a scrappy little dachshund, got into a minor altercation with another pet.

Adele also revealed she is a huge fan of discount retailer Target, saying: “They have everything!” “I loved going there and getting some bargains”.

She visited the Glasgow Fort shopping centre while on tour in March, where she went to a branch of H&M – without incident this time – and Asda, as well as buying trainers for her children in Smyths.

Adele, who has made £35million in the past year thanks to the success of her album 25, is known to be a fan of Argos and £1 Primark knickers.
