Crystal Palace accept Bristol City’s Dwight Gayle bid

The summer arrivals of Patrick Bamford and Connor Wickham have pushed Gayle further down the pecking order and the news of his availability has alerted a number of clubs.

Crystal Palace striker Dwight Gayle has turned down a move to Bristol City as he wants to stay in the Premier League, sources have told ESPN FC.

If Gayle does chose to leave for The Robins then he will surely go with the blessing of all Palace fans as he looks to gain first team football at this crucial stage of his career.

Gayle, 24, joined Palace from Peterborough United on a four-year deal in 2013, scoring 18 goals in 54 appearances since.

The League One champions have struggled to add to their side following their promotion in May, bringing in only French striker Jonathan Kodjia until last week’s double signing of Tottenham right-back Ryan Fredericks and Aston Villa striker Callum Robinson.

It is believed that Bristol have had a bid of around £6million for Gayle accepted by Palace and the transfer fee could potentially rise to £8million depending on future incentives.

He will hope to have made a breakthrough with Gayle, however, who is now free to discuss personal terms at Ashton Gate, according to reports.
