All flights on the Hyderabad-Dubai sector stand cancelled on Thursday due to non-availability of runway at Dubai International Airport.

“It’s incredible how fast you can get people out of an aircraft”, said Christine Whitten, a former United Airlines flight attendant who experienced a similar incident.

As Dubai is a major global hub for flights to the Indian Ocean and Australasia, this incident is also likely to cause disruption to long-haul flights to and from the UK.

“Jump! Jump! Jump! Leave your bags behind!” the woman shouts, seconds after the burning plane came to rest on the runway of Dubai International Airport after a flight from Thiruvananthapuram in southern India.

Dubai International Airport, the world’s busiest in terms of international traffic, said it was running “under restricted capacity and has since continued to operate with one runway”. The carrier scrapped 27 flights and diverted another 23 to locations including the U.A.E. emirates of Sharjah, Fujairah and Al Ain as well as the capitals of the nearby countries of Oman and Bahrain.

Once emergency response teams managed to extinguish the fire, it was clear how deadly the accident could have been: The entire top half of the aircraft’s fuselage was missing, with the belly of the plane slumped on the tarmac.

The carrier says “all passengers and crew are accounted for and safe”.

Footage from an Emirates plane that crash-landed in Dubai before bursting into flames that shows scenes of panic surfaced on Social Media on Thursday. Of the 282 passengers on the flight EK521, 157 disembarked in Dubai and left the airport yesterday afternoon.

The airline said that it has already notified passengers about their respective flight status through various channels.

“There was no announcement about any technical snag”.

“Both the Captain and the First Officer have over seven thousand hours of flying experience each”.

As many as 282 passengers and 18 crew members were on board the plane as it crashlanded at Dubai global airport.

The crew were praised for evacuating the plane so quickly which saved all 300 people onboard.
