Durant set to return from foot injury at Team USA minicamp

Taking time on the court for light exercises is a positive indication of Durant’s continuous healing and should not be a cause of concern for Thunder officials, players, and fans.

“USA Basketball”, a behind-the-scenes look at a USA Basketball Men’s National Team practice will air at 2 p.m. It will be Durant’s first organized practice since a nagging foot injury sidelined him for the season. Neither Anthony nor Durant, sources said, will play in Thursday night’s intrasquad game at the Thomas and Mack Center (10:30 P.M on ESPN2), but the low-intensity nature of what Team USA coach Mike Krzyzewski has planned for Tuesday and Wednesday, sources said, has been deemed sufficiently safe. That’s all LeBron James is doing.

Kevin Durant is headed for another milestone on his road to recovery from a stress fracture in his right foot. Durant will be a free agent in 2016, and there has been some speculation that that could hinder his participation next summer, but his inclusion in practice here seems to indicate how serious he is about being a part of the program and winning another gold medal. In total Durant had three separate surgeries to fix the foot but is now ready to start ramping up his activity according to Thunder general manager Sam Presti. “We are excited he is at the point where he can take part in portions of the minicamp, as he has demonstrated great focus throughout his recovery efforts”. “Rehab is going very, very well”. After a whirlwind past season, does Melo have enough to make it to the final Team USA roster?
