The University of Minnesota has closed the Coffman Memorial Union for the day after an undisclosed security threat Monday morning.

Police were notified of a suspicious package around 11:30 p.m. Sunday, the Star Tribune reported.
The Minneapolis fire chief told KSTP that a “tent bag” showed no safety concerns when it was x-rayed and checked for radiation. The building is a center of activity, housing the campus bookstore and dining area.
Armed officers-searched the building with dogs.
University officials announced Monday afternoon that the union would remain closed for the day but would open at 7 a.m. Tuesday.
Buses and Green Line light rail transit are continuing as scheduled, the Star Tribune said.
Authorities decided to keep the building closed until it could be thoroughly searched.

Classes are not in session, so university officials don’t believe the closure will affect many students.
