Man Stabbed In Front Of Shoppers At Westfield

A man has been stabbed at a London shopping centre packed with thousands of families and children on their school holidays, the Independent reported.

Police and security officials are now at the scene, with parts of the centre cordoned off.

His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Witnesses said the attack happened on the ground floor of Westfield London, with two men seen running away from the scene.

A Westfield spokeswoman confirmed there had been an attack while the centre was open.

Another user tweeted: “Altercation in Westfield London”.

A Met Police spokesman said: “Officers from London Ambulance Service attended and discovered a man aged in his 20s suffering stab injuries”. He has been taken to hospital and we await an update on his condition’.

“It was quite tense”.

Two men were arrested at the scene and remain in custody.

“Officers from Hammersmith and Fulham investigate”.

Police say they are keeping an open mind about the motive, but that the incident was not terror related.

“Westfield can confirm there has been an incident and is assisting the police”, she said.

The £1.6billion Westfield White City, which opened in 2008, is one of two Westfield sites in London – the other being in the east of the capital in Stratford.
