There is not a vaccine to prevent Zika.
Health department officials did not reveal the neighborhood where the infected person lives, but said they are now going door to door in that neighborhood to talk to residents.
The Pentagon said it has been taking steps to educate troops about how to protect themselves from the virus. There haven’t been any reported cases of Zika in this area, but the company is looking ahead with a plan to help keep the mosquitoes away. Some of the individuals infected are active-duty service members.
Symptoms can include fever, rash, joint pain, red eyes, muscle pain and headaches.
Zika, which is spread to people through mosquito bites, can cause severe birth defects, including small heads. The attack on Zika from the ground is also being ramped up but health officials acknowledge the spraying hadn’t been working as well as they hoped.
Crews continue to spray the area from the air and on the ground, but one of the biggest concerns are the effects the virus can have on pregnant women since the virus has been linked to birth defects seen among babies in South America.
Unlike neighboring counties, the mosquito that can transmit the virus has not been found in Tulare County so far this year, but it has been in the past.
“As I have said before, Florida has a proven track record of success when it comes to managing similar mosquito-borne viruses”.
Zika has spread rapidly in Brazil in the run-up to the Rio Olympics which begin tomorrow.
President Barack Obama on Thursday called on Congress to approve more funds to fight Zika’s spread in the United States, saying that money to fight the outbreak is rapidly running out.
“At no time should there be any standing water”.
Officials also recommend wearing mosquito repellent and long-sleeved clothes.
The species of mosquito that carries the virus does not survive harsh winters in IL, but public health officials say they continue to trap and test mosquitos statewide just in case.

“Those pose very real risks”, Anderson said, adding that he and his staff have treated several cases already this summer.
