Fresh divisions are emerging within the US Republican Party over its presidential candidate Donald Trump.

He says Trump, “strongly encouraged me to endorse Paul Ryan in next Tuesday’s primary”.
“I’m just not there yet”, Trump said in an interview with The Washington Post, closely echoing Ryan’s demurral before he endorsed Trump, telling CNN on May 6, “I’m not there right now”.
“It’s even turned some of his strongest supporters privately against him, people like Rudy Giuliani, the former mayor of New York City, [and] former US House speaker Newt Gingrich”. “We need fighters in this country. I think something should be said about respecting those voters”, Ryan said.
Langworthy’s continued endorsement is significant, considering a few high-profile Republicans have now backed away from Donald Trump’s candidacy.
McCain has also criticized Trump on occasion, including a lengthy statement this week assailing Trump for comments about a Muslim couple who have criticized Trump’s proposals.

“Stop thinking about Hillary, stop thiinking about Obama and whoever Khan is, and start proposing solutions to America”, former California GOP chairman Tom Del Beccaro said.
The latest exchanges cast a shadow over the show of unity the party sought to project at the Republican National Convention that formally nominated Trump for president in July.
Trump responded by suggesting that Khan’s wife, Ghazala Kahn, who stood on stage with him, was forbidden from speaking due to their Muslim faith. First, Trump tweeted his thanks to Nehlen after he praised the real estate mogul, and then Trump told The Washington Post he’s “not quite there yet” on endorsing Ryan.
“I’m afraid the election is going to be rigged, I have to be honest”, Trump told a town hall crowd in Columbus.
Another source close to the campaign expressed bewilderment over Trump’s fight with Ryan, saying Trump should focus on issues that actually matter to people. I can not emphasize enough how deeply I disagree with Mr. Trump’s statement.
McCain is a locked in a three-way race ahead of an August 30 primary in Arizona.
