Delegates hope email woes don’t disrupt convention

The chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, resigned after emails were leaked that appeared to show that some party officials might have been favoring the Hillary Clinton campaign. The email leak, which consisted of 20,000 emails, came just days before the start of the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia that will see Hillary Clinton become the Democratic nominee.

The FBI said Monday it is investigating how thousands of Democratic National Committee emails were hacked, a breach that Hillary Clinton’s campaign maintains was committed by Russian Federation to benefit Donald Trump.

The disclosure set off devoted Sanders supporters, who were already having a hard time moving past the bitter primary battles to embrace Clinton as the nominee. Those same supporters now feel vindicated.

This week, they are Sanders delegates at the convention. She faces a primary challenge in August from Tim Canova, a progressive Democrat backed by Vermont Sen.

Bernie Sanders is expected to speak at the convention Monday night. The email dump provided by Wikileaks also highlighted DNC staffers mocking Bernie Sanders jewish faith.
