Clinton eyes rainbow coalition of Democrats, Republicans and Independents against Trump
On a raucous Thursday evening in Philadelphia, Hillary Clinton became the first woman to accept the nomination of a major United States party. “Change that Makes America Great Again”, the video said.

Hillary Clinton on Thursday promised economic opportunity for all, national unity and tolerance, and rejected Donald Trump’s dark vision of America as she capped off a four-day convention in Philadelphia.
And in a bold admission for a candidate seeking to build on President Barak Obama’s policies, she said the economy “is not yet working the way it should”.
A recent poll by Reuters showed Clinton beating Trump by five percent in a two-way matchup, but they are tied when Libertarian Party candidate Gary Johnson and Green Party candidate Jill Stein are included in the race. Mothers commented on how thrilled they were for their daughters to witness the occasion, while others, whose mothers had passed away, remarked that it was a moment they would have loved.
So chalk this one as a win for Trump after a tough week in which he looked like he might not claim the rating wars-the ratings for the previous three nights of the star-studded DNC had edged out the first three nights of the RNC by millions of viewers. “I get it that some people just don’t know what to make of me”.
Clinton repeated the convention’s theme of “stronger together”, declaring that her lifelong goal has been to ensure that Americans can use their talent and ambition to strengthen the nation.
Trump, the Republican nominee, said Friday at a rally in Colorado Springs, Colorado that he watched Clinton’s speech the night before in Philadelphia. “We will work with all Americans and our allies to fight and defeat terrorism”, she said.
John Allen, the retired four-star Marine general and former commander of American forces in Afghanistan, delivered a rousing endorsement of Clinton.
The Trump and Clinton campaigns are about to become neighbors in Washington. “The family I’m from, well no one had their name on big buildings”, Clinton said in a reference to Trump.
That was especially apparent in the hour before Clinton took the stage, when Khizr Khan, the father of a Muslim Army officer killed in Iraq, held up a copy of the Constitution and asked Trump, “Have you even read the U.S. Constitution?”
Likability: Clinton also implicitly acknowledged her problems connecting with certain groups of voters, including those who are openly hostile to her.
“We don’t resent success in America but we do resent people who take advantage of others in order to line their own pockets”, said Clinton, addressing local officials and employees on the factory floor. Private security experts – although not yet any US government agencies – say they found clues that point to hacking groups whose targets track the strategic interests of Russia’s government.

She presented a sharply more upbeat view of the nation than her rival Trump offered when Republicans nominated him last week and even turned one of former USA president Ronald Reagan’s signature phrases against the NY real-estate developer. “I was going to hit this guy so hard his head would spin, he wouldn’t know what the hell happened”.
