Jared du Toit of Canada tees off on the second hole at the 2016 Canadian Open in Oakville, Ont., on Saturday, July 23, 2016.

Du Toit, an Arizona State senior from Kimberley, British Columbia, was trying to become the first Canadian victor since Pat Fletcher, born in England, in 1954 at Point Grey in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Beyond the leader, another large figure stands in the way of du Toit finishing this Cinderella story in U.S. Open champion Dustin Johnson.

Snedeker hit a 378-yard drive and 121-yard approach to set a 7½-foot eagle putt that he holed for a 6-under 66 to move to 9 under for the tournament.

“I could go for some Tim’s”, du Toit said.

If he’s going to win, he’ll have to get by some of the best players in golf.

Vegas rallied to win the Canadian Open on Sunday for his second PGA Tour title, birdieing the final three holes for 8-under 64 and a one-stroke victory.

“It’s so cool, it’s a great feeling”, said Rahm of being on the leaderboard with his college friend.

“I mean, I can’t imagine the nerves this kid has to be playing as great of golf as he has”.

“The day was pretty tough in itself and then I really didn’t have anything going well”, Day said.

“I’m just going to go out there and try and enjoy myself”.

“Starting the round, I knew that if I could get to 12 under, literally that’s the number I had in my mind”, Vegas said.

“I have to slow myself down and make sure I’m on point and making the right decisions because I know what he’s going through”, Burke wisely stated.

The 17-year-old Lee beat 16-year-old Noah Goodwin of Corinth, Texas, 2 and 1 in the 36-hole final at The Honors Course.

Johnson (against Steve Wheatcroft), Kuchar (Cameron Tringale) and Rahm (Derek Fathauer) are the recommendations for final-round twoball punters.

“It feels good”, said du Toit, who will be a senior at Arizona State University and is playing in his first PGA Tour event.

Johnson, who started the day tied with List for the lead, fell back early as he dropped four shots in his first four holes at Glen Abbey near Toronto. But in a five-hole span to close out his round, he was four-over, thanks to two bogeys and a double.

Jimenez pulls away in Senior British Open: Miguel Angel Jimenez opened a four-stroke lead in the Senior British Open, shooting a 7-under 65 in mild conditions to fall one short of matching the Carnoustie Golf Links record.

“We couldn’t have asked for much of a better day than we got today”, Clyburn said.

Rahm, who was tied for third with du Toit at the start of Saturday’s third round, shot par to remain at 6-under par and stay in contention in a group tied for sixth.
