Two icons of Brazilian popular music, Caetano Veloso and Gilberto Gil, will feature.
“Brazilians can look at it and say we are a cool people, we are different ethnic groups, we live together, we never went to war, we are peaceful, we know how to enjoy life and we tend to be happy”, he said.
After a rehearsal that was supposed to be kept a secret, the internet lit up with leaks about the ceremony, including the freakish scenario of the long-legged beauty being robbed in a disarmingly honest reflection of life in colourful Rio de Janeiro.
However, the Olympic organizing committee denied the reports, saying, “There is no robbery”, in a statement, but declined to elaborate. Bündchen will allegedly start walking down a catwalk to the sound of A Girl From Ipanema, before she is confronted by her assailants.
Born to Brazilian soccer player Toninho Cerezo, who was part of the national team between 1977 and 1985, Lea T told the BBC that she wants to embody Brazil’s diversity. “So I’m protesting against the lack of finances for our schools and for the way our salaries are only paid in instalments”, said teacher Guilherme Moreira Dias, 38. She refused to attend the ceremony, leaving Temer in her place with a hostile reception from the crowd predicted.
According to the 3,000 attendees who watched the dress rehearsal earlier this week, the 3-hour presentation will trace Brazil’s history and contribution to the world moving from the country’s vast jungles to its inner-city slums.
One thing the rehearsal did not show is the lighting of the Olympic cauldron.

While the opening sequence of the ceremony included a nod to “Gambiarra” – the Brazilian talent for making something great out of nearly nothing – public anger Friday focused on the level of spending on the Games. It has been reserved for Olympic-related traffic.
