Travelers can now fly nonstop to the theme park capital of the world, as Allegiant announces new flights from Grand Island to Orlando.

In doing so, the airline overcame a summer filled with reports of emergency landings, canceled flights that stranded thousands of passengers, and a labor dispute with pilots.

In addition to its scheduled service from Pittsburgh, Allegiant will be operating charter flights to Punta Cana and Cancun from the airport for Apple Vacations starting this fall. Conner said flight days, times and the lowest fares can be found only at Allegiant.com. “The community has enthusiastically responded to our latest Florida flights, and we are confident that we will see the same response to our Punta Gorda service”.

Flights will generally be on Fridays and Mondays, said Eric Fletcher, manager of airports for Allegiant.

Allegiant partners with more than 20 of the area’s hotel properties, provides low-cost car rental service through its partnership with Alamo Rent-a-Car, and offers great deals on local activities.
