Margot Robbie Isn’t A Fan Of Harley Quinn’s Relationship With The Joker

Suicide Squad is one of those movies, you’ll nearly have to see. A story which has about as much rhythm and natural flow as Harley Quinn in a straight jacket bouncing off of padded walls.

Suicide Squad is an enjoyable superhero/supervillain flick that will entertain comic-book fans, and a definite improvement from Batman v Superman. We’ve yet to see how that one will turn out, but it just goes to show these hazards aren’t unique to DC movies or even to Warner Bros. However, this sub-plot really isn’t focused on much, and Leto’s Joker probably didn’t total over 10 minutes of screen-time. As Joker’s girlfriend, Harley Quinn, Margot Robbie tries hard – too hard – to act flagrantly bonkers.

By comparison, “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice”, which opened in March, launched with a $27.7 million Thursday.

None of these themes are directly broached in “Suicide Squad” (aside from a passing joke by Deadshot that a government official “white people that thing” to help his daughter inflate her grades), but they’re unmistakably embedded in its overall atmosphere. But are the members of this Suicide Squad so bad after all? Suicide Squad beat Guardians of the Galaxy as the largest box office record for Thursday night in an August debut, proving that DC and Warner Bros.is more than willing and capable of challenging Marvel.

Besides touches likely to remind many viewers of the recent “X-Men: Apocalypse”, “Escape from NY”, and even those good ol’ “Ghostbusters”, all that remains is some silly dialogue and the incredibly bleak cinematography that all but washes away any sense of action.

But as long as they kept giving me the banter between the characters, I ended up forgiving them. The solution is to assemble the most risky villains on the planet and force them into cooperation by placing an explosive device around their necks. The Joker has nearly no screen time (um, what happened to the scene that was shot on Lakeshore Blvd. last summer and why does the Yonge St. chase only amount to five seconds of screen time?). The goal was to kind of find some sort of middle ground where I could go higher for comical moments and go lower for more real moments. I hated them. The voice took a while because I knew it was something we’d have to commit to.
