Tonga flag bearer Pita Taufatofua enters Olympic stadium all greased up

The taekwondo athlete marched into the stadium waving his country’s flag, wearing nothing but a Tongan mat.

The 32-year-old has tried three times to qualify for the Games and made a spectacular entrance.

Pita Taufatofua competes in taekwondo and looked really good carrying the Tonga flag shirtless in the Opening Ceremony of the Rio Olympics.

Taufatofua was born in Australia but moved to Tonga when was an infant, according to his official biography.

The website generosity.com says he “sacrificed his whole adult life working in homeless shelters with the underprivileged”.

Taufatofua, a taekwondo athlete, led his team across the stage with a wide grin, no shirt and lots of oil.

He raised $6,262 dollars in four months. “He didn’t know if he was going to be picked to carry the flag, but if he did he strongly felt that it should be something that represented the country”.

Tonga's shirtless flag bearer caught everyone's attention
