Clinton on Comey Comments
“For me, these aren’t just systemic issues”, Clinton told the audience.

Hillary Clinton sort of, kind of, nearly broke her streak and held a press conference on Friday.
As I have previously written, whether information contains classification markings is irrelevant, because Clinton signed a nondisclosure agreement with the State Department that said classified information was still classified regardless whether it contained specific markings. She says they were personal.
While Clinton may appreciate the work of the media, one reporter told her the media would appreciate it if she helped them do their work.
Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton speaks at the 2016 National Association of Black Journalists’ and National Association of Hispanic Journalists’ Hall of Fame Luncheon on Friday, Aug. 5, 2016, at Marriott Wardman Park in Washington.
Before taking questions, Clinton delivered a 15-minute address focused mostly on how her plans to improve the economy would especially benefit blacks and Latinos. I want to ask you about something Hillary Clinton said today – breaking her silence on the latest controversy over her e-mails.
LISA DESJARDINS: In fact, last month, Comey testified that some things Clinton said before Congress and in public were false. Trump’s campaign jumped on the assertion, calling it “pants on fire”.
The correspondent wasted little time before playing a clip of Mrs. Clinton’s recent contention on Fox News Sunday that “Director Comey said that my answers were truthful; and what I’ve said is consistent with what I have told the American people”. “And I have said, during the interview and in many other occasions over the past months, that what I told the FBI-which he said was truthful-is consistent with what I have said publicly”. That’s really the bottom line here.
“Clinton’s habitual lying about the use of her secret server to send and receive classified, top-secret information shows her blatant disregard for national security and a continued pattern of bad judgment”, Trump spokesman Jason Miller said.
The explanation didn’t appease Republicans.
JAMES COMEY: I think it’s possible, possible that she didn’t understand what a C meant when she saw it in the body of the e-mail like that. “Hillary Clinton is once again proving herself incapable of telling the truth”.
Clinton pointed to the high ratings she won as secretary of State and as a senator from NY, arguing that voters like her more when she’s working than when she’s campaigning – something she attributed to campaign attacks on her character.
Accordingly, like Director Comey said in announcing that he would not recommend an indictment against Clinton, “any reasonable person in Secretary Clinton’s position, or in the position of those government employees with whom she was corresponding about these matters, should have known that an unclassified system was no place for that conversation”.
“We have to recognise that of course some of the appeal is xenophobic and racist and misogynistic and offensive”, she said. We will make them as carefully and consistently as we can.
But Comey explicitly declined to lend his credibility to her public statements when he was pressed to do so under questioning last month.
“He is harkening back to the most shameful chapters of our history and appealing to the ugliest impulses of our society”, she said. “We need to stand up as a country and say that Donald Trump doesn’t represent who we are and what we believe”.
Friday, Hillary was again asked about her comments and once again claimed she had never lied about her email server.
Toward the end of the event, Clinton talked about her cadre of African-American girlfriends, something she rarely mentions in public. These include some of her most senior aides, including Cheryl D. Mills, Maggie Williams and Minyon Moore. “They’ve supported me. They’ve chastised me”.

And, she added, “they’ve tried to expand my musical tastes”.
