While one source said the Thunder are optimistic about extending Westbrook, he cautioned that nothing has been finalized yet. Last night there were rumors going around that Russell Westbrook would be signing an extension with OKC. The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the team did not release terms.
By the time this extension is up, Westbrook will have played ten years in the National Basketball Association.

Reports swirled in the wake of Durant’s decision that it was Westbrook’s heady play and occasional score-first attitude that ultimately pushed Durant to join the Warriors, but that has been vehemently denied by KD. If things go poorly for Oklahoma City during the upcoming season, the length of Westbrook’s new contract would seem to make him a more valuable trade piece. His competitiveness, character, and unique athletic ability have propelled him to the forefront of the game. “We are thrilled he will continue with us and we look forward to exciting days ahead for the Oklahoma City Thunder”. The source added that Oklahoma City is not giving Westbrook a hard deadline by which he must agree to the extension. Durant said he had no plans to call Westbrook as the situation is “touchy”. Maybe we should hold off on some of the “loyalty” talk, at least for now. Who knows, we might even see him average a triple double for the 2016-17 season.
