Montemurro had tweeted during the game that the fan’s “You suck” shouts were clearly audible in the press box. In the fifth, Span’s sacrifice fly scored Joe Panik.
Moore did not make the finest initial impression, coughing up a lead before he recorded his first out. He has 11 doubles, four triples and seven homers.
Philadelphia’s Tommy Joseph walked a career-high three times. But he also mixed plenty of 93-95 miles per hour fastballs and a tumbling knuckle curve that illuminated why the Giants valued him so highly.
“When I saw (Hunter) Pence run out to center field to get the ball, I was like, ‘What’s going on here?'” Altherr said. “That was his equalizer right there, his out pitch”.
“I had to push myself and at least get to five innings”, Velasquez said.
PHILADELPHIA: The Phillies have lost seven of Nola’s last eight starts overall and are just 1-5 in his last six home starts as well. Moore has been throwing well with back to back wins with three earned runs allowed over 13.2 innings. He entered with two outs in the ninth and threw four pitches before catcher Trevor Brown threw out Hernandez as the runner slid past second base. “To get a win here does a lot for the psyche and morale of the ballclub”.
“And people cheered me, which is unusual in this town for me”, he said. “They buy tickets. They don’t have to come here to listen to that”.
