Air Algeria plane lands safely after technical fault
The aircraft, a Boeing 736, took off from Algiers this afternoon to fly to Marseille but broadcast an emergency call when it was in the air, reports say.

Initially the radar showed the jet turning around to head back towards its origin airport but before it landed it had disappeared from view entirely.
Flight AH1020 took off at 1:30 P.M. local time and was meant to land in France at 4:05 P.M., but around 4 P.M. its status was defined as “unknown”.
The airline has since confirmed the plane landed safely having suffered technical difficulties mid-air.
Others have expressed surprise that no news of the plane’s arrival back at Algiers has been released – leaving its current fate a mystery.
It is not yet known whether the plane has managed to make an emergency landing or indeed has crashed.
The Sun has contacted Air Algerie for more details on what happened.
There have also been a series of airplane tragedies recently; the May crash of an EgyptAir plane traveling from Paris to Cairo; a Russian plane that crashed, and the mystery over the missing Malaysian jetliner Flight 370.
