Zakaria Bulhan is yet to be officially named by Scotland Yard but United Kingdom media reports confirm the London schoolboy as the suspect being held over the murder of 64-year-old American retired teacher Darlene Horton.

In the aftermath of the attack, British media consultant Jamie Wood tweeted that there had been 9,000 knife crimes in London in the last 12 months.

Five others were injured in the attack in Russell Square.

The Met has since ruled out the possibility the teenager was radicalised, having at first said it is “keeping an open mind” about the possibility of terrorism.

The British victim is still in hospital while the other four survivors of the attack have been released.

He was remanded in custody and ordered to appear at the Old Bailey court in London, a higher court, on Tuesday.

Two women and three men were injured in the attack. I have seen some reports that say he was bullied but it was just banter – he gave back as good as he got.

A woman who looked forward each year to traveling with her husband as part of Florida State University’s study-abroad program was the victim of a London knife attack earlier this week. Delray Beach police said Thursday that the couple was walking home after eating dinner at a nearby restaurant Wednesday night when they attempted to cross some railroad tracks. In a texted statement, Shannon told us in part, “I will never forget her heart of service, her love of traveling, and her smile that warmed the hearts of all who knew her”.

Assistant Commissioner Mark Rowley said that so far no evidence has been found of radicalisation that would suggest the man in custody was “in any way motivated by terrorism”.

A cyclist who was passing the scene moments after the stabbing told how he was flagged down for help by a Spanish family.

“They said that he didn’t say anything”. Many friends were too bereft to talk about her passing.
