Instagram introduces Snapchat-like ‘Stories’
As with Snapchat, the new Instagram Stories feature allows its 500 million members to annotate their posts with emojis, doodles and texts, Instagram said in a blog post on Tuesday. Users are encouraged to not only upload content they want to keep on their profile, but also share content that later disappears.

Don’t count on stories to capture your trips and adventures forever, though: Stories will disappear after 24 hours.
This will show the top stories from people you follow, with a colourful ring around the profile photo of users who have recently updated their story.
If a user’s account is private, their story is visible only to their friends.
I like Snapchat Stories, and I’ll probably use Instagram Stories, too.
Instagram Stories will be rolled out to all users in the coming weeks on iOS and Android.
“Facebook invented feed, LinkedIn took on feed, Twitter took on feed, Instagram took on feed, and they all feel very different now and they serve very different purposes”.
Facebook tried to make its own ephemeral messaging service in the past, for one, back in 2012. And its acquisition of the photo filter company MSQRD this spring was seen as a direct move against Snapchat.
While Instagram Stories is undeniably similar to Snapchat, the popular Snapchat filters feature, including face-swapping and the “dog filter”, has not yet been recreated by Instagram. When you are finished with being Picasso, click the “Done” button and it will be ready to add to your story.
Facebook and Snapchat have been rivals since quite some time. In addition, the Stories section comes with text and drawing tools for enhancing images.
Some users are calling Instagram out on social media for being a copycat. Tapping on an avatar will open a photo or a short video clip (of up to 10 seconds) that they have posted to the Stories feed within the last 24 hours.

A user can also change privacy settings to hide the story from some followers and can choose to feature a particular part of the story by posting it on her profile. It is not yet confirmed if users will also have the option of saving their stories.
