Emirates flight from India catches fire in Dubai; all passengers safe

The footage posted on the social network show the Boeing 777 bursting into flames and the huge plum of dark smoke coming from the plane.

In its statement, IndiGo said, “Due to unavailability of runway at Dubai airport, all IndiGo flights operating to and fro India stands cancelled for August 4, 2016”.

At the bottom of the chute, passengers shout out as they search for relatives and help each other away from the crash site.

Children were among 300 screaming passengers and crew filmed fleeing from the cabin of a crashed Emirates plane at Dubai Airport, moments before it burst into a fireball on the runway.

In a video message, Sheikh Ahmed said a fire on the plane, which was reportedly delivered to Emirates in March 2003, was put out at 14.32 local time (1032 GMT). “All passengers and crew are accounted for and safe”.

Dubai is the world’s largest air hub in terms of global passengers, and is the base for Emirates, from where it serves more than 153 destinations.

The ground handlers threat to go on stir and the crash landing of an aircraft on Dubai International airport hit Chennai airport as several flights were delayed.

The Boeing 777was carrying 282 passengers and 18 crew members from 20 different countries, according to the airline.

Despite later resuming operations, Dubai International said its capacity was still restricted and it was operating with one runway.

“Dubai authorities are not permitting any narrow body aircraft to land there until 7:30 IST, 5th August” announced Spicejet canceling all flights to Dubai till then.

Boeing said it would send a technical team to Dubai to participate in the investigation.
