Railing collapses at rap concert; at least 10 hurt

The 42 injured concert-goers were transported to several local hospitals, according to Camden County fire department and EMS officials.

The person’s name has not been released and further details on their injuries were not disclosed.

Live Nation, which operates the venue, announced Saturday that it had “secured” the impacted section of railing.

“The announcers came on the speakers and were like, ‘Everyone just remain calm, we’re figuring out what happened, ‘” she said.

Camden City Spokesman Vince Basara says that city officials are working with BB&T Pavilion to address the issue.

The railing separates a sloping lawn from a covered portion of the outdoor concert venue.

Social media video showed the rail falling forward beneath the weight of dozens of people, sending them crashing around 10 feet to the concrete below, as the rappers chanted, “Get up!” during the concert.

The “Merry Jane Presents Snoop Dogg & Wiz Khalifa: The High Road Tour” began July 20 in Florida and concludes September 2 in Washington.

The collapse Friday night happened around 10:30 p.m. Numerous other people were treated for broken bones, bruises and other injuries.
