Does Rotten Tomatoes hate DC or are we just insane?

Negative reviews for the film have been pouring it at such a rate that fans of the film launched a petition to close down review aggregate site Rotten Tomatoes in an attempt to prevent people from seeing them.

Sure, fine. The fans who think the critics are out to get them will appreciate it, as will Warner Bros, which has encouraged DC fans to dismiss film critics as disconnected from film audiences in the recent past.

Fans of the panned Suicide Squad, starring Jared Leto, Will Smith and Viola Davis, aren’t criticizing DC Comics for outputting a crap movie, they’re criticizing the critics for identifying it as such.

Based on the comics with the same name, Suicide Squad tells the story of an elite group of supervillains who are forced to become heroes when the world finds itself fighting an evil ancient foe.

The Rotten Tomatoes staff, we could’ve been contenders.

The critics have been absolutely horrific, they’re really, really frightful. Most critics praised Robbie as a bright point in an otherwise lacklustre, nihilistic and uninspired film from director David Ayer. “The aim of this petition is to deliver a message to the critics that there is a lot of people (who) disagree with their reviews”, he wrote.

But now, the cast of “Suicide Squad” has hit back.

Many DC Extended Universe fans believe that the website is conspiring with other film studios, particularly Disney.

“I didn’t mean it to be taken that serious”, Coldwater stated in a post entitled “Final Announcement”.

He said: ‘I made the movie for real people who live in the real world.

“After thinking, I found this petition is pointless”. Tech Insider’s Kirsten Acuna said the film didn’t “pack the same punch” as “Guardians of the Galaxy” and made her feel like she was watching “Batman v Superman” part two. The movies is something to enjoy.

Rotten Tomatoes does not directly review films.

“We’re really proud of this film, we loved making it”. Suicide Squad, out in theatres in the USA last Friday and in Singapore yesterday, follows a rogue group of anti-heroes with special powers – Deadshot, Harley Quinn, Boomerang, Killer Croc and El Diablo – who are held hostage by Gotham’s government to use as weapons to protect the city.
