Trump belatedly endorses House Speaker Paul Ryan
Trump’s endorsement of Ryan came at a rally in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

Ryan said Friday that “of course” he could dump Trump, but did not elaborate what it would take for him to make that move.
It was the same phrase used by Mr Ryan before he finally endorsed the Republican presidential candidate.
But he said Trump’s “early refusal to endorse Ryan sent a clear signal to Wisconsin voters that Ryan is not his preferred candidate in this race”.
And he offered support for Ayotte, one of the GOP’s most vulnerable senators, who Trump earlier suggested to the Washington Post had shown weakness and a lack of leadership in New Hampshire.
“It’s time to unite our Party and deny a third term of Obama”.
Ryan has criticized Trump’s proposed ban on Muslims entering the US and said it was racist for him to suggest that a judge’s Mexican ancestry made it impossible for him to be impartial in a civil fraud suit against Trump.
Many Republicans came out of the RNC in Cleveland still concerned about Donald Trump as their nominee.
“It’s time to change a rigged political system that works only for the insiders and to replace it with a government that serves the people”, Trump said. Kelly Ayotte’s reelection efforts during the event.
“Welcome to Wisconsin, Mr. Trump, but let’s get something straight”, Wisconsin’s Assembly Speaker Robin Vos wrote in an open letter to his GOP colleagues ahead of Trump’s arrival.
Ryan will face his underdog challenger Paul Nehlen in Wisconsin primary on Tuesday.
Despite Trump choosing to endorse his opponent, Nehlen is still trying to seize on the GOP nominee’s star power and media draw.
Ryan reiterated his support for Trump hours before the endorsement, but the Wisconsin Republican noted his support wasn’t a “blank check” and pledged to speak out against the businessman’s divisive positions if necessary. In response, little girls said ‘Thanks, but we’d rather be Beyoncé’.
Ryan himself has yet to respond to Trump’s endorsement, which his team previously said he had not asked for when Trump refused to endorse him. “That is the mark of a true leader”. But these are terrible times for our country.
“We need unity. We have to win this election”, Trump told the rally, as he stressed a “big tent” Republican Party is the only way to defeat Democrat Hillary Clinton in November’s election. “I’m not quite there yet”. “I am not going to try to psychoanalyze this stuff”, Ryan told Jay Weber of WISN as part of a lengthy slate of local radio interviews Ryan was doing Thursday and Friday in advance of next Tuesday’s primary elections.
Priebus said in a tweet on Friday that he and his wife voted for Ryan.
However, in refusing to endorse Ryan, Trump was seen as thumbing his nose at Reince Priebus, the chair of the Republican National Committee and a leader who has gone out of his way to ensure that party elders treat Trump as a legitimate nominee. “I have officially endorsed Paul Ryan — and together, we will fight for you, and together we will Make America Great Again!” “He is a longtime friend”.
Sean Hannity, a Fox News host and one of the most influential conservative pundits in the country, warned on Thursday that he also may endorse Nehlen’s campaign, explaining that he was exhausted of “spineless” Republican leadership.
The tale of two states underscores Trump’s mounting challenges during one of the most tumultuous weeks of his unorthodox campaign.
The parents had spoken out against Mr Trump at last week’s Democratic National Convention.
Paul Ryan and other elected Republicans haven’t held back criticism for Trump either.

“Where that line gets crossed, I don’t know where that is”, he told Sykes.
