Seeking some help at second base, the Toronto Blue Jays acquired infielder Cliff Pennington from the Arizona Diamondbacks during Saturday’s game against the New York Yankees. He’s spent most of his time at shortstop, but in Toronto, Pennington would serve as a complementary piece behind Ryan Goins at second base.

“A good, solid utility player”, Toronto manager John Gibbons said.

Travis is eligible to be activated on Thursday but Gibbons said that will not be possible, as the team is still unsure when he will be able to begin a minor-league rehab assignment.
