The 54-year-old bank robbery suspect was killed in the shooting.

“A multi-agency task force in Oakland County tracked that individual to this area”, Levalley said.

Members of a fugitive apprehension task force pulled up to the hotel Wednesday morning to arrest him.

A West Bloomfield officer shot him in the chest and a corrections officer shot him in the shoulder.

The man recently was paroled after serving time for robbing the same bank he’s suspected of holding up Tuesday, The News says.

“Our officers thought they recognized him”, Nebus said Wednesday.

Detroit Deputy Chief David Levalley told WDIV-TV the suspect refused to answer the door to the motel room and was armed with a “pretty large butcher knife” when police broke through.

The suspect, who wasn’t identified, was pronounced dead at a local hospital. There were two shots fired.

Detroit Police and Michigan State Police are investigating. “One shot was sacked by a sargent from West Bloomfield Township and an MDOC agent”.
