Trump strains to fix split GOP, blasting common foe Clinton

On Friday he announced his economic policy advisory team, said he would deliver an economic policy speech early next week, and was expected to endorse U.S. House of Representatives Speaker Paul Ryan, the top U.S. elected Republican, who is seeking his 10th term in Congress.

Fox News and CNN said Trump would endorse Ryan, the top USA elected Republican, in his re-election bid at a rally in Green Bay, Wisconsin, which is Ryan’s home state.

The endorsement marked a sharp reversal for Trump.

On Tuesday, Trump declared outright that he wasn’t ready endorse to the House speaker and even seemed to echo Ryan’s own words when the House speaker held back his own endorsement of Trump.

“I like Paul, but these are disgusting times for our country”, Trump said Tuesday of Ryan, who faces a challenge by a conservative insurgent in the August 9 Wisconsin primary.

“We will have disagreements”, Trump said. “But I need a Republican Senate and a House to accomplish all of the changes that we have to make”.

“Let me just tell you: I hope you can get out on November 8th and vote for Trump”, the Republican presidential nominee said to loud cheers. “I’m not quite there yet”.

Trump’s endorsement of Ryan came at a rally in Green Bay, Wisconsin, Ryan’s home state, CNN reported.

This week tensions increased between Trump and the Republican party after he declined to endorse Ryan and McCain. Days ago, Ayotte said she was “appalled” by Trump’s statement about the Khan family, where Trump said he would be interested in the mother’s opinion about Hillary Clinton’s support of the Iraq War. House Speaker Paul Ryan sent out a fundraising email Thursday urging, “If we fail to protect our majority in Congress, we could be handing President Hillary Clinton a blank check”. “Sometimes things don’t come out the way that you mean them”, Pence said.

New York Times: Could Donald Trump drop out?

Nehlen said Friday that Trump’s decision “is appropriate and is a display of true leadership”.

Trump admitted Friday that he wrongly claimed to have seen secret Iranian footage of $400m in hard currency being delivered to Tehran as payment for the release of USA prisoners.

While many prominent Republicans have either only given half-hearted endorsements of Trump, or no support at all, few Republican groups have given as strong of a condemnation of Trump.

Ryan, the top USA elected Republican, had no plans to attend the event, in a sign of lingering frictions between the pair. “He said he’s going to work with Paul Ryan”.

Trump’s usage of the phrase “short-circuit” was a reference to Clinton’s own remarks during a press conference as she tried to explain why she falsely said during an interview that FBI Director James Comey said that her statements about her private servers were “truthful”. Pence responded: “What I’ve learned, Matthew, and you’ll learn it when you’re governor of North Carolina …”

“The whole place is cracking up, and the next day in the newspaper it said, ‘Trump throws baby out of arena, ‘” he said.
