The trade deadline has passed, but the Brewers could still make more transactional moves – the players must first clear waivers, though, which makes it more hard – and they likely will, given wheeling-and-dealing Stearns’ active track record. Texas will send prospects Lewis Brinson, Luis Ortiz and a player to be named later to Milwaukee in the deal. They got All-Star left-hander Cole Hamels last season after the pitcher voided a proposed trade that would have sent him from Philadelphia to Houston.

With Lucroy and Carlos Beltran now in the order, the Rangers can order those two with Ian Desmond and Adrian Beltre for an incredibly potent middle of the order, and that isn’t even mentioning the power through the rest of the lineup.
Earlier in the day, the Brewers sent left-handed reliever Will Smith to San Francisco for two players, including the Giants top pitching prospect Phil Bickford, along with catcher Andrew Susac, who has caught 87 games in the majors.
Lucroy, 30, is batting.299 with 13 homers and 50 RBIs. His contract comes with a $5,250,000 team option for the 2017 season.
On his verified Twitter account, Lucroy wrote, “Now, moving on to the (at) Rangers let’s take this bad boy to the ‘ship!” Jeffress will either close or setup for current closer Sam Dyson.
The Rangers confirmed the Beltran deal but as of 3:10 p.m. had not confirmed the Lucroy deal. The announcement was made by General Manager David Stearns.
“While it is extremely hard to part with players the caliber of Jonathan Lucroy and Jeremy Jeffress, we are excited to add more young and talented players to the organization as we continue to build toward future winning seasons in Milwaukee”, Stearns said in a release.
Brinson has spent the entire season with Double-A Frisco, batting.237 (72-304) with 11 home runs and 40 RBI in 77 games.
Oritz was the 30th overall pick in 2014.
