For the first time in his National Football League career, Jahri Evans will play for a team other than the New Orleans Saints.

Evans is a six-time Pro Bowler and four-time first-team All-Pro.

Evans, 32, was released this offseason by New Orleans after 10 years with the Saints.

The five players now projected to make up the Seahawks starting offensive line are all playing positions that they didn’t really play a year ago.

Contract details were not immediately available for Evans’ deal with Seattle.

Seahawks offensive line coach Tom Cable admitted that he’s not exactly sure who’s going to be starting on the line once the season starts. “The biggest issue is getting him settled and obviously he’s doing really well, so I don’t know if you want to mess with that”. A four-time first-team All-Pro, Evans was a Pro Bowler each season from 2009-14. Seattle waived guard Kona Schwenke to open up a roster spot.

Cottom apparently injured his Achilles tendon during practice Thursday. Though they rated as a top unit in the running game according to Football Outsiders, they surrendered the third-most sacks in all of football last season and lost Russell Okung, who was arguably their best lineman in 2015, to free agency.

Meanwhile, tight end Cooper Helfet was among five injured players waived by the Seattle Seahawks.

Also cut were TE Ronnie Shields, RB Tre Madden and DE David Perkins. He will compete with another former Husky, Tani Tupou, in the absence of Cottom.
