Flowers was charged Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2016, with first-degree intentional homicide in the death of his son, Sean Flowers III.

Neighbors reported that the body of water was near an apartment complex where Flowers, 25, had been arguing with his girlfriend, the baby’s mother, right beforehand during a family reunion. According to reports, during the party, the Milwaukee father got angry with his girlfriend, the infant’s mother, and responded by taking the baby from her and exiting the apartment where the party was taking place.

With the crying baby in hand, Flowers allegedly walked into a pond and sat down so the water was up to his chest. “Where’s the baby?’ And then I saw a baby floating in the water”, witness Joey Griffin told Fox 6 News.

Officers spotted two men in the water – one was a man who was trying to rescue the baby; the other was Flowers. So I grabbed it and tried to swim away.

Flowers was recently ordered to pay a higher child support – $62.50 per week – which was set to begin on Monday.

Then Amstadt told the dispatcher: “He just walked into the water with the baby”, he said.

When police informed Flowers of the murder charge, according to the station, he didn’t show emotion and asked, “How much time does that carry?”

“We all lost. We all lost this one”, Griffin said.

“No matter what you do, no matter how hard you try, sometimes you lose”, Griffin said. It was, he said, “the most evil thing I’ve seen”.

The male suspect, who is the father of the infant, became involved in a dispute with the mother of the infant. No matter how hard you try.

The unknown woman allegedly wrote she was “scared that he will harm me”.

When police arrived, the Journal Sentinel reported, multiple officers entered the pond and to detain Flowers and recover the baby.

A cluster of people followed the man in a bewildering parade, yelling “Don’t go in the water”. In 2015, a domestic abuse temporary restraining order was filed against him but was denied.

Sean Flowers has reportedly been scheduled for a preliminary hearing on August 11; if convicted the Milwaukee father faces a maximum sentence of life in prison.

By the time police and the Milwaukee Fire Department arrived at the pond the man was no longer holding the baby
