A look at how deadline deals could shape rest of season
Almost two months ago, when it was first reported that New York Yankees general manager Brian Cashman was considering dealing Aroldis Chapman and Andrew Miller from his ridiculously loaded bullpen, I wrote about how doing so made a lot of sense for the Bronx Bombers. They’re trying to make right decisions and smart decisions, and if they’re not contending, they’re going to try to get rid of some players and get something in return.

“So we know this player very well from a personal standpoint and an amateur scouting standpoint in an extreme way”, Cashman said.
Hill, who signed a one-year, $6-million contract with Oakland during the off-season, is on the disabled list with a pesky blister on the middle finger of his throwing hand that hasn’t healed.
It’s an even year and just as the Giants won a World Series in 2010, ’12 and ’14, they’ve given themselves a chance to do so again in 2016.
He was traded from Kansas City to Houston in June 2004 and from the New York Mets to San Francisco in July 2011.
According to ESPN.com, the Red Sox were interested in Yankees switch-hitting outfielder Carlos Beltran, but Beltran was ultimately traded to the Texas Rangers. “We want championships. That is what we have always been about”. With intriguing pieces like Carlos Beltran, Andrew Miller and Aroldis Chapman all having stellar seasons and the Yankees in the midst of a four-game losing streak heading into deadline day and falling behind in the wild-card race, the time was now. And that may be an understatement, as the Yankees’ farm system went from average to one of the very best in all of baseball.
The Yankees who are on the outside looking in with a.505 record at 53-52.
The Rangers drafted Tate fourth overall just previous year because he pitched in the 92-98 miles per hour range with two above-average pitches, but they gave up on him just 74 innings later. In exchange for Chapman the Yankees received shortstop Gleyber Torres, outfielder Billy McKinney, and outfielder Rashad Crawford. Two sources, though, had confirmed the Brewers trade. The Rangers dealt outfielder Lewis Brinson and right-hander Luis Ortiz to the Brewers.
After getting top prospects Gleybar Torres and Clint Frazier in the deals for Chapman and Miller, the Yankees are obtaining someone who has struggled after being a top-100 prospect this season.
Milwaukee dealt away a fan favorite in Lucroy and closer Jeremy Jeffress to Texas.
Bruce, a three-time All-Star, is batting.265 with 25 home runs and a league-leading 80 RBIs.
“We’re kind of in unfamiliar territory with the Yankees”, said first baseman Mark Teixeira, whose eight-year contract ends this year.
“Now, moving on to the @Rangers let’s take this bad boy to the ‘ship!” They gave up a pair of pitching prospects, neither considered among their best, and no longer have the unpredictable Jonathan Papelbon (4.28 ERA) pitching for the biggest outs.
The trade of Beltran also opens up a slot for Aaron Hicks in the short term.

Catcher was weak, home to Robinson Chirinos and the real Killer B’s (Bryan Holaday, Bobby Wilson, and Brett Nicholas). Seasons can’t be bought and sold in the free-agent market the way they used to be. He likely will be in a setup role for the Rangers behind Sam Dyson. The Rangers had to send two former first-round draft picks to Milwaukee, but with Houston within striking distance in the AL West, Texas chose to be aggressive. The Yanks also added a left-handed pitching prospect in Justus Sheffield and a right-handed one in Dillon Tate. “Tate’s only relief outing came against the RiverDogs on May 9 at The Joe when the 6’2”, 165 pound righty lasted just 1/3 of an inning, giving up three runs on three hits with a pair of walks and a strikeout after a surprise entry into the ballgame when he was slated to start for Hickory the next day.
