“Thank you very much, Irina & Viktor Yelchin”, his parents said in a statement at the time.

Yelchin’s father Victor told reporters on Tuesday, “With unbelievable grief, we chose to come here to prevent other families with the same tragedy”. “It’s against nature when a parent has to bury their own child”.

We can’t imagine what the Yelchin family is going through right now. Yelchin’s SUV was part of a global recall campaign, in a frame of which Fiat Chrysler was recalling 1.1 million vehicles – Anton’s auto planned to be recalled in April. “They should have never used this device”, attorney Gary Dordick said at a press conference in Beverly Hills, reports variety.com.

The grieving parents also claim that a few weeks before Anton’s passing the vehicle was recalled, and a letter advising him on how to fix it was sent a week after his death.

Yelchin is now appearing in the film “Star Trek Beyond” as Pavel Chekov and has roles in several other projects that have yet to be released.

Plaintiffs are informed and believe and allege that, on or about June 19, 2016, decedent ANTON YELCHIN parked the Subject Vehicle at or near the top of his driveway, then exited the Subject Vehicle and traversed towards the base of his driveway. Anton’s untimely death was due to a defective 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee that had a defective electronic transmission shift.

“We want them made to know that that type of conduct, money and profits before safety, is unacceptable”, he adds.

The vehicle was part of a FCA safety recall that in the USA includes more than 800,000 mid-size SUVs and full-size cars with transmission shifters now linked to 68 injuries and 266 crashes. “The company has not been served with a lawsuit and can not comment further at this time”.

“He never cared about being a star”, Irina said through tears. The wrongful death suit was filed Tuesday in Los Angeles County Superior Court. Your shift lever is spring-loaded and returns to the same center position like a joystick, always returning to the center position after the desired gear is selected.

In tears, Mrs Yelchin added: “Every morning we’re getting text messages or emails from his friends all around the world saying how much. losing this attractive human being, and the world is really missing him and it’s not right that he is not here”.
