Qantas flight to Dubai turned back to Sydney

All 282 passengers and 18 crew members were safely evacuated.

Fourteen other people were treated in hospital for their injuries.

A video uploaded on social media reflects the chaos as the plane’s crew shouted at passengers to use the emergency chutes to flee.

Emirates, which began operations in 1985, has never had a fatal accident with any of its aircraft. Jet Airways also urged passengers flying to Dubai to check their flight schedules.

“Jump and slide! Jump!”

It is not yet known exactly what caused the crash on Wednesday, but it is believed the plane may have landed on its belly after a malfunction with its landing gear. Such restrictions, these experts said, could have made it hard for the pilots to quickly adjust to possible issues with the landing gear or wind shear, a downdraft or sudden change in wind speed or direction close to the ground, a condition that was reported around arrival time. “As we were landing there was smoke coming out in the cabin”.

Before the wrecked aircraft caught fire, hundreds of passengers fled the airliner, resulting in a four-hour shutdown of the busy airport.

The budget carrier further said that it had arranged alternate mode of travel for passengers of the diverted flights to reach Dubai city.

“The airport gradually started resuming operations around 6.30 p.m. local time on Wednesday night”, an airline spokesperson said.

An Emirates plane from India has crash-landed in Dubai overnight with 300 passengers and crew on board.

“The main priority remains with those involved and offering support to concerned family and friends”, the airline added. New findings suggest that the plane broke up midair after a fire broke out in the cockpit or near it.

Officials in-charge of Dubai’s International Airport say they hope to be fully-operational again in the next few days following Thursday’s crash landing of an Emirates airlines jet.

Boeing Airplanes said in a statement: ‘Our team is monitoring the situation in Dubai and we’ll be working with Emirates to gather more information’.
