$400 million to Iran not ransom: Barack Obama
Republicans who had been against the Iran nuclear deal cried foul and quickly mixed all three things into one big ransom-and-appeasement cocktail.

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker skipped the evening rally, preferring to attend all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner instead of appearing with his party’s standard bearer. The GOP nominee is changing his mind.
“I’ll never forget the scene this morning”, he said.
LLAMAS: But Trump’s own campaign telling ABC News Trump is referring to footage he recently saw on Fox News.
DONALD TRUMP: The tape was made, right? “The only bit of news is that we paid cash”.
The tension between the Republican heavyweights complicates Trump’s push to compete in Wisconsin, a state that hasn’t voted for a Republican presidential candidate since 1984.
Trump suggested that the 33,000 emails Clinton deleted might resurface at some point.
She also acknowledged many people don’t trust her.
Paul Ryan says “Heck if I know Jay, I’m not going to try and psychoanalyze this stuff”. She added, “I’m going to work my heart out in this campaign and as president to produce results for people”.
With Election Day little more than three months away, the Labor Department reported Friday that US employers added a healthy 255,000 jobs in July, a sign of confidence that could point to a resilient economy.
But questions surrounding Trump’s depiction of video footage has distracted from the substantive policy dispute over whether and how such a payment should have been made. That settlement was announced the very same day that the high-profile Iran nuclear deal was completed, which itself occurred only a few hours before Iran released four detained Americans, including Washington Post reporter Jason Rezaian, as part of a prisoner swap between the two nations.
Trump had previously claimed that he had seen video of the newly controversial January U.S. cash delivery of $400 million dollars to Iran, something there is no evidence to support.
Trump has been expressing outrage about a $US400 million payment the U.S. made to Iran this year.
Donald Trump accused President Barack Obama of lying Friday about whether the administration paid Iran $400 million in ransom for USA prisoners, intensifying his charge even as he backed away from earlier claims that he had seen video footage of the exchange.
In a follow-up report, the Wall Street Journal noted that senior Justice Department officials objected to flying the cash to Tehran on grounds, in the words of one source, that “the Iranians probably did consider it a ransom payment”.
In another sign of an effort to get his campaign back on track, Trump released a statement Friday following his tweet, saying Clinton and Obama “bear the direct responsibility of destabilizing the Middle East, having let ISIS take firm hold in Iraq, Libya and Syria, not to mention their allowing Americans to be slaughtered at Benghazi”.
During the news conference he also called ridiculous any suggestion by Mr. Trump that the coming election would be rigged against him. “We were completely open with everyone again, and it’s interesting to me how this is becoming a story again”, Obama said.
In Iowa, he blamed the “dishonest” media for the fuss over an incident earlier in the week in which he asked a screaming baby to leave a rally.

He addressed the flak, which drew numerous headlines, Friday: “I don’t throw babies out”.
