A 4-year-old girl and her mother were killed in a shooting in Long Beach Saturday night, authorities said. The mother was pronounced dead at the scene. Conflicting information was given about the girl’s age, ranging from 2 to 4 years old.

The daughter suffered from one gunshot wound and was transported to the hospital in critical condition.
Police said that the two were about a block and half away from their apartment, and were walking home at the time of the shooting.
Witnesses told local television stations that the two had returned from the grocery store with the woman’s husband and were walking from their auto when the shooting occurred.
“It was chaos”, said Francisco Ortiz, a neighbor. Some residents in the area said they heard four gunshots.
