Burger King: Buzzfeed, One Direction Spurred Chicken Fries
Eric Hirschhorn, Burger King’s chief marketing officer in North America, gave a statement informing that the restaurant chain decided re-start selling the chicken fries after witnessing how much enthusiasm they generated on Twitter and Facebook previous year.

The spicy chicken fries will be available for one month initially, but if customers respond positively, Burger King may extend their run. Now they’ve come out with a spicy variety, seasoned with a blend of cayenne pepper, black pepper, and other spices “that will make your mouth cry”.
The rise of Sriracha and the popularity of chicken wings have pushed spicy food into the American mainstream in recent years. Billboard said Hirschhorn and the company noticed a surge in mentions of the fried chicken sticks when 1D member Liam Payne sent out this tweet. That tweet, along with a BuzzFeed post about foods no longer in production, was enough to bring Chicken Fries back temporarily. “Think I just ate my body weight in chicken fries and sides owwwwww”.
In the taste test, TheStreet found the fiery chicken fries to be tame on the tongue at first, with a mild kick.

After chicken fries played a big part in boosting sales of same-stores by 6.7% during the second quarter, Burger King will introduce a spicy version of this cult favorite in the U.S. during this week.
