‘Downton Abbey’ to get special tribute at star-studded event
Dan Stevens has delighted Downton fans by joining his fellow cast members to receive a special Bafta award celebrating the global success of the ITV drama, which is due to conclude with its sixth and final series later this year.

The show’s executive producer, Gareth Neame, confirmed the final series of Julian Fellowes’ period drama would illustrate the decline of the aristocracy in the 1920s.
“I doubt it would be a prequel”. I think a Downton movie could be a wonderful thing. “It is not Downton pulling up the drawbridge, not a thunderbolt that destroys it”, he said, adding that “the camera will move away” before the credits roll for the final time.
Following the event, cast and crew attended an after party co-hosted by BAFTA and NBCUniversal worldwide Studios, catered by rhubarb on Richmond Green.
Laura, who is most widely known for portraying Lady Edith Crawley, opted for a chic maxi-gown which featured a retro floral print in pastel hues and charming bow detail above her bust.
It read: “Today is the last day of what has been the most glorious 6 years of my life”. “I’ve already blubbed saying goodbye to different cast members, so I’m sure I won’t be able to speak”. “I shed a few tears”, confided McGovern.
“My last. #tears. #tears #tears”, which was followed by another snap of her joking around in costume with Hugh Bonneville, who plays her onscreen husband.
Leading the way was Michelle Dockery, who plays Lady Mary Crawley.
The stars agreed they’ll miss the friends they’ve made along the way – and will also hate giving up their cinematic alter egos. “So, yeah, I need to hang up the keys and go on for the rest of my life without her”.

BAFTA says all the current actors, including Maggie Smith, Hugh Bonneville, Jim Carter and Penelope Wilton, are expected to attend Tuesday evening’s ceremony. Only the “Harry Potter” franchise team got awarded a similar trophy. Its final season is airing in September in Britain and in January in the U.S.
