A boy was killed Sunday in an accident at Schlitterbahn Water Park in Kansas City, Kan., police and the park said.

The Associated Press reported that the boy was 12 years old.
A tweet sent out by the department said it was “an apparent accident death”.

Schlitterbahn officials also confirm the boy was on the Verruckt water slide when he died.
Verrückt, a 17-story-high ride, opened in July 2014.
“We are saddened to share that a young boy died on Verruckt this afternoon”, Winter Prosapio, a park spokesperson, told FOX 4.
Police have a public information officer on the scene to talk to the media about what happened.
Kansas City, Kansas, police were called to the park about 3:20 p.m.

The park was closed for the remainder of the day and will be closed Monday and Tuesday for a full investigation.
