DC Fans Start Petition to Shut Down Rotten Tomatoes

Though the movie (which stars Method Actor Jared Leto, if you haven’t heard) is not out yet, and I can’t imagine how a vast majority of fans have actually seen the film, they are mad about the early reviews of the film.

The small but loud revolt against critical opinion is demanding the closure of Rotten Tomatoes, where Suicide Squad’s aggregate rating among critics is hovering at about 35 per cent.

Since it premiered in theaters on August 4, the Suicide Squad received a lot less love than what was expected with Rotten Tomatoes collecting reviews which were mostly on the bad side and a rating of only 28 percent or 4.8 out of 10.

As you will nearly definitely know by now, the ‘ Suicide Squad’ reviews have not been kind.

Suicide Squad is now “rotten” as only 35% of the current reviews are considered “fresh” (24 positive out of 68 total reviews), which isn’t sitting well with the fans. Coldwater has since issued a clarification that states that he and his fellow fans merely wanted to “deliver a message to the critics”, adding ” … it’s just a way to express our anger”. In a series of Tweets, the director shared that this was a movie made for the fans and he found it to be one of the best experiences of his life. “Made it for the fans”.

“There isn’t a moment of spontaneous fun or humor in this long, turgid movie, the latest letdown for DC Comics fans who’ve been waiting for someone to pick up the baton Christopher Nolan left behind and do this universe justice”. Therefore, it “affects people’s opinion even if it’s a really great [movie]”. She went so far as to say that she believes that they really just do not like movies about superheroes.

A change.org petition said critics are being too harsh on their favorite flicks, such as the just-opening “Suicide Squad” and this past spring’s “Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice”.

It’s no secret that comic book movies tend to lend themselves to the amplified visual effect of the 3D treatment, and Suicide Squad is no different.

Rotten Tomatoes works out the percentage of reviews that can be deemed positive.

“I didn’t mean it to be taken that serious”, Coldwater stated in a post entitled “Final Announcement”.

The fans I spoke with at the time of Warcraft’s release said that film succeeded as fan service to a great degree, something that’s hard to do well for a community as dedicated as World of Warcraft’s.
