Oscar Pistorius taken to hospital ‘with cuts to his wrist’
Paralympian Oscar Pistorius has been treated for injuries at a private hospital near Pretoria and has returned to a jail, South African prison officials say.

“He had to be detained Saturday afternoon at the hospital after falling off his bed”, prison services spokesman Singabakho Nxumalo said.
The former Paralympian was taken back to the prison the same day, as prison officials revealed.
Convicted murderer Oscar Pistorius was treated for injuries he suffered in prison, NBC News reported.
The spokesman did not provide additional details, citing privacy concerns.
Legal experts later slammed his six-year jail sentence – far below the recommended 15-year jail term – as “an insult to the women of South Africa”.
In late July, South Africa’s National Prosecuting Authority announced it would appeal Pistorius’s six-year prison sentence.
City Press also reports that blades were subsequently found in Pistorius’ cell during a search. One of the guards said he had bad cuts on his wrists and that doctors were wrapping bandages around them.
The model was in the bathroom when Pistorius fired four shots through the door.
This comes after Dr Jonathan Scholtz, a witness for the defence at Pistorius’ sentencing hearing, said the athlete is a “broken” man.
The runner has always insisted the shooting was a mistake, saying he thought an intruder had entered his home and he feared for his safety. Prosecutors said he shot her intentionally after an argument.
His five-year jail term was later increased to six-year after his initial manslaughter allegation was changed to murder by the supreme court in December.
