Margot Robbie takes a PINEAPPLE to Cara Delevinge’s birthday bash

While Suicide Squad faced a hard week ahead of its national bow – including scathing reviews – the film’s box office take should help take the blow out slightly.

Its No. 1 opening smashes a record set by Guardians of the Galaxy in 2014 when that Disney/Marvel movie blasted off with $94.3 million on its way to $333.2 million.

Basically, that’s “Suicide Squad”, the latest entry in DC’s attempt to build its own movie empire.

“Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice”, the previous entry in DC Comic’s series of interconnected superhero films, was also a critical piñata.

Additionally, Suicide Squad’s success pushes the total Warner Bros.

The actor plays the character in the new Suicide Squad film, appearing alongside the likes of Margot Robbie and Will Smith. The film also opened with $132 million internationally, where it will likely go without a release in China, the world’s second-largest movie market.

Suicide Squad is now playing in theaters everywhere. Here in Australia, it made $2.4 million on opening day yesterday, adding to a $29.6 million global opening.

However, Will tore his leg muscle during his preparations and was left in agony and he blames himself for trying to keep up with his younger castmates, including Margot Robbie, Jai Courtney, Joel Kinnaman, Cara Delevingne and Scott Eastwood.

Margot Robbie looks absolutely fantastic in “Suicide Squad” – where she is primarily in very short, very tight shorts. But are the members of this Suicide Squad so bad after all?

Speaking to Reuters at the film’s London premiere, Delevingne, who plays Enchantress, said “the critics have been absolutely horrific, they’re really, really disgusting”. If the movie adaptation of Suicide Squad seems wrong per its unfavorable reviews, DC Comics doesn’t have to be right.

The weekend’s other new nationwide offering is EuropaCorp and director Barry Sonnenfeld’s Nine Lives, a family-friendly film starring Oscar-winner Kevin Spacey as a neglectful dad turned into a cat.

The Matt Damon starrer is now expected to finish with $21.6 million this weekend and a total of $102 million since its release, according to Forbes.
