A Richland County official is reporting that festival attendees began consuming ultra-potent marijuana sweets that look like Nerds around 10 or 11 a.m.

The festival is located at the action sports complex Ohio Dreams Camp in Butler, Ohio.

According to multiple reports, event goers were given Nerd candy packets that were laced with a substance that is believed to have triggered the reaction. EST Fest attendees have taken to social media outlets, such as Instagram, to warn others against taking the drug.

OhioHealth spokesperson Nikki Workman said 24 people were treated, but that she felt the situation was under control. The packages were marked with the name of an unspecified commercial candy brand.

Each piece contained “a very, very high dose of THC”, the mind-altering chemical in marijuana, Richland County Sheriff’s Department told the Mansfield News Journal. He said THC usually gives people a sense of euphoria. Narcan is being used to treat victims.

Law enforcement officials said Saturday the festival did a thorough search of each vehicle before letting people in.

Lt. Joe Petrycki, commander of the METRICH regional drug task force, said early reports of concertgoers overdosing was too strong a description.

The 2016 EST Fest was in Butler- about an hour northeast of Columbus.

“There were about 20 pieces in each one”, Masi said.

A rap festival went wrong Saturday when numerous concert-goers overdosed on drugs.

“(Crime lab director) Tony Tambasco said he has not seen such a high concentration of THC in his lab”, Masi said.
