Constantine” isn’t quite so dead after all.

Matt Ryan will reprise his role from the cancelled NBC series.

The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed Ryan will have at least one episode as John Constantine on Arrow. The network pulled the plug after the first season despite a valiant campaign from the fans and producers (and websites like us) to get the show picked up by another network (including the CW), the cast was released from their contracts back in June, essentially signalling the end of the show as we know it.

According to The CW, John Constantine is a weather-worn exorcist and expert on the supernatural and the occult.

“Arrow” stars Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen, Katie Cassidy as Dinah “Laurel” Lance, David Ramsey as John Diggle, Willa Holland as Thea Queen, Emily Bett Rickards as Felicity Smoak, John Barrowman as Malcom Merlyn, with Paul Blackthorne as Detective Lance.

E! News has learned that Ryan will guest star in an upcoming episode of the CW’s Arrow, reprising his role from the DC Comics property Hellblazer.

Variety has info out of The CW TCA panel, noting that Arrow showrunner Marc Guggenheim previously said that “everyone” wanted to bring Constantine into Arrow, and that the idea “comes up in the writers’ room constantly”. It would be cool if Matt Ryan could wind up being a recurring character in not only Arrow, but across the board in all the CW shows – including both Flash and Legends of Tomorrow. “Matt is an incredibly talented actor and his portrayal of this beloved character was always something we admired”. With the introduction of magic and mysticism in the new season, Constantine should fit right in. “It will be a well-deserved tip of the hat to all the ‘Constantine” fans who were so incredibly supportive of that series”. We know for a time there were people who wanted to see The CW revive “Constantine” as well, but this never came that close to materializing.
