Mr Trump had a short-lived bump in the polls after the Republican National Convention in Cleveland in late July, when Reuters polling showed him slightly ahead of Mrs Clinton for the first time since May. In Michigan, Clinton is ahead by nine points, with 41 percent of the vote. Additionally, more black Clinton supporters than white supporters said they had “a lot” of close friends who also supported Clinton, 59% to 33%.
Trump’s faltering performance in the polls accompanies growing GOP concern surrounding his candidacy.
While Silicon Valley is hardly known as a Republican stronghold, Whitman’s rejection of Trump adds a strong voice to those opposing Trump.
Clinton herself asked Whitman for her support, the businesswoman told the Times, which was the first to report the endorsement.

A number of Republicans in the upper chamber have joined the “Never Trump” movement, including Sens.
What’s going to be interesting is to see how many more Republicans publicly abandon Trump, and when they act.
