Manchester United announces Paul Pogba transfer is close to completion

Jose Mourinho nearly confirmed Pogba’s transfer during his interview after United’s 2-1 win over Leicester City in this year’s Community Shield match on Sunday, saying that “He (Pogba) is our player assuming everything goes well in the medical, I will be there waiting for him on Tuesday”, as per The Guardian.

“I just know that he’s a big player who for sure is going to be important for a big club like Man United”.

United boss Jose Mourinho said on Friday he wanted the deal done by the time his side play their opening Premier League game at Bournemouth on 14 August.

He added: “I don’t think Real were upset when they broke the record with Gareth Bale or Cristiano (Ronaldo)”.

“Here he has the conditions to develop in the biggest worldwide championship, with a team that wants to bring Manchester United to the top again”.

‘Money you will get at any big club, that’s not the point.

Pogba was driven into United’s Aon Training Complex in the passenger seat of a red and black Chevrolet vehicle provided by the club, having flown to Manchester from Nice.

The Juve manager, Massimiliano Allegri, had said last week he summoned Pogba to train with the club on Monday but there was a breakthrough in discussions since.

They will be paying a very steep price for his services, however, with the expected €105 million transfer fee the most ever paid.

Mourinho expressed satisfaction with United’s transfer business after seeing Ivorian centre-back Eric Bailly, Armenian playmaker Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Sweden superstar Zlatan Ibrahimovic arrive.

The Frenchman has been the subject of a long running transfer speculation nearly becoming a saga as United look to secure his signature and return to Old Trafford.

“Yes, Pogba has been authorised to undergo a medical in Manchester”, a Juventus spokesman told AFP. “I don’t think it’s a reason to be sad – it’s a reason to be proud”, Mourinho said.

Mourinho believes the 23-year-old boasts a rare combination of qualities possessed by such Premier League greats as Frank Lampard, Steven Gerrard and Scholes, who retired after United’s last title triumph in 2013.

The Frenchman, who helped his country reach the final at Euro 2016 on home soil, came through Le Havre’s youth system before moving to United’s academy in 2009 on a three-year contract with a one-year renewal option.

“He comes because he knows the club, knows the city, knows numerous players”.
